On one hand it’s a fourteen-year old Audi that needs unspecified work. ‘Nuff said. On the other hand, though, the seller seems very motivated and the work could end up being easy & relatively cheap so this may be a bargain.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! reads:
Priced to Sell! I have a 2005 Audi A8L for sale. It has 158k miles. The cars battery is currently faulty, the car doesn’t start because of that. There are also a lot of other problems with the car, none of which I’m sure specifically what they are. The price is so low because I am leaving in a month and I’m not taking the car with me. The car will need some work, not sure how much. For $500 I think it would be a good project or worth the gamble.
Also here’s !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that I would probably buy today if it was a Tahoe and not a Suburban because that’s just too much vehicle.

Willing to only take $500 for a vehicle that was $70,000+ in 2005? Yep, Martha’s Vineyard.

CP.
Unless you’re planning on LS swapping it and running it at LeMons.
Then NP.

All the Oppos talking LS, why not Focus ST motor? Let's get weird.

Do you have another 5 ,000 sitting around for parts? If not then nooo

Probably cheaper too. Might as well end in a Corvette transaxle, and some Chinese Tubros too, manual RWD 700hp A8L? Sign me up!

You guys get how to fix cars

Turn the seats into living room furniture, a la Top Gear, the engine block into a table or wine rack, and part out the rest or sell it as scrap metal. You’ll probably make your money back.
Or check out DeBoss garage on YouTube. They've turned some old Audi into a racecar of some sort. LeMons would make a great home for these remnants.

Solid NP, if you have the time, tools, and storage to part it out. There’s thousands of dollars of parts, even just selling simple stuff like seats, trim, and basic body parts you can easily multiply your money

Weird? I’m all for that. How about a quad Hayabusa swap - two in the front and two in the back.

The problem is, this thing could easily have enough problems to the point where fixing it would end up being more expensive than just buying a clean one.

A buddy had a first gen one when he lived in the UK - he said it was fantastic. He said maintenance was even reasonable, though he had a good specialist and he’d scour the interwebz for used parts. Can’t go too far wrong for $500 - especially if it’ll start/drive with a jump.

As a project car, massive CP.
If you’re looking to turn those nice looking seats into some man cave furniture. Then scrap whatever you can’t part out it’s a NP. Weren’t these predominantly aluminum? That’d be worth more than $500 in scrap.

How long has the sunroof been open? Hahaha.
I have a friend in MA that this would be perfect for if he had the money to fix it. Though my guess is that it has some kind of engine problem, transmission failure, suspension failure, or water ingress that make it completely useless except as a parts car.

So the LS swap has been tried, not sure if they ever got it to work. But the LS is actually longer than the V10, and that barely fits. But if you ditch the front transaxle and push the engine back in the chassis a bit, go rear drive only, you might have something. But for $500 you should be able to part it out for decent money. If the interior bits are still good. 150k miles isn’t unheard of in these, but nothing is cheap for parts. But it’d be a kickass platform to make a crazy swap project out of.

If it was closer I’d gamble on it, I’ve always wanted one of those.
I mean, it can’t be worse than daily driving 90s Mopar can it?
